Terms and Conditions

This website is operated by SWCC. Throughout the site, the terms “we”, “us” and “our” refer to SWCC. 

By placing an order you are agreeing to the terms & conditions that are stated below. Your statutory rights are not affected. 

14-Day Returns 

There will be occasions where a customer changes their mind and wants to return their purchase. 

We offer a 14-day return period from the date your item is shown as delivered for you to check you’re happy! If for any reason you want to return the item to us, you must notify us as soon as possible within these 14 days via the contact form on our ‘Contact Us’ page. 

We will then confirm acceptance of your return along with details of where to return the item. 

Summary of UK Distance Selling Regulations: 

  • You have 14 days from the date the parcel shows as delivered to request a return. 

  • Once we approve the return, the item(s) must then arrive with SWCC within 14 days from the date your return is approved 

  • We then have a further 14 days to refund you 

Customers are responsible for ensuring the item is packaged and insured appropriately when returning a purchase, SWCC are not liable in the event any item(s) are lost or damaged when a customer is returning a purchase.  

Customers will also be responsible for any return postage costs (unless the item is faulty), and we do not refund the original postage costs of sending the item to you (unless the item is faulty) given postage costs are not free and we have been charged by Royal Mail.

Any items returned must be in the same condition as when it was sold, and any accessories must be included. If the item has been damaged (including, but not limited to) such as by being dropped or tampered with in any way, we will not accept a return. The same applies if an item is missing parts. 

On receipt of the item, we will inspect it and once condition has been verified, we will endeavour to issue a refund quickly to your original payment method which will take a few days to process depending on your bank. 

Please note - any new items, such as film where the packaging is opened cannot be returned as these are perishable and cannot be resold (as we cannot guarantee the film hasn’t been exposed to light), however we will be happy to accept returns on sealed items (within the terms set out above). We also cannot accept returns on gift cards. 

Order Cancellation 

We reserve the right to cancel any order that is placed with us. This may be for any reason including stock miscalculations, an issue with the item, being unable to ship to your location, or there has been a risk of fraud flagged up. If this is the case you will be notified and receive a full refund. 

If you would like to cancel an order that you have placed but has not yet been dispatched, please only contact us via our contact form to ensure that your message is seen before the item is dispatched. If another method of contact is used by the customer, we accept no responsibility for any costs incurred for returning the order. 

Warranty 

PURCHASES:

Every item listed on our website has been fully tested and its condition noted in the item description.  

Cameras and lenses come with a minimum of 30 days warranty (unless otherwise stated), all other equipment e.g. straps, accessories, flash units are tested before sale and come with the standard 14-day return window.

It is the responsibility of the buyer to check they are content with the condition of the item(s) they have purchased and contact us with any issues within 14 days of the item showing as delivered. 

Customers must test the camera's functionality during the applicable warranty period. Failure to use the item does not entitle the customer to an extension of the warranty.

In the unlikely event your item exhibits an issue following the 14-day window after receiving it, and is within it’s warranty period (exact details of which are in each item’s description), please get in touch via our contact form on our ‘Contact Us’ page. 

We will discuss the issue, and if required we will then organise returning the item for us to inspect and repair. (We will reimburse return postage costs if we find the item to be faulty). 

In the unlikely event the item is unrepairable, it is SWCC discretion to either replace with a like-for-like item in the same condition (or better) or refund you in full for the original purchase price. 

Customers are responsible for ensuring the item is packaged and insured appropriately when returning a purchase for repairs.  

In the event an item is damaged, including (but not limited to) being dropped or tampered with (including attempted repairs by 3rd parties), any warranty is immediately void. 

SWCC will not be liable for the cost of any 3rd party repair costs unless this is confirmed in writing by ourselves prior to repairs taking place. 

In the event an item exhibits an issue outside of the applicable warranty period, please get in touch via our contact form on our ‘Contact Us’ page to discuss what support can we can provide. 

We do not cover any pre-existing issues under warranty e.g. an issue described in the original advert.

The warranty starts from the date your equipment is dispatched from SWCC.

REPAIR SERVICE:

The warranty is valid only for the original purchaser and cannot be transferred to others. It does not apply to items that are resold or passed on to new owners.

Customers must test the camera's functionality during the warranty period. Failure to use the camera does not entitle the customer to an extension of the warranty.

The warranty starts from the date your equipment is dispatched from SWCC.

Our ‘Full Service’ we offer comes with a 60 day warranty as standard.

Targeted repairs (e.g. replacing a specific component only) come with a 30 day warranty on parts and labour for the issue that has been fixed, therefore we are only able to provide the warranty on the specific component replaced, rather than the rest of the camera’s components too.

Repairs

All pricing for repair estimates and servicing are valid for 14 days, we reserve all rights to review and update our pricing at any time.

All servicing and repairs start with an inspection of your equipment - this allows us to provide you with a more accurate cost and confirm whether the camera is repairable, and if it requires any replacement parts (based off an initial inspection).

A non-refundable inspection fee of £45 is applicable for all repairs/servicing. This fee is payable when booking your camera in (we will send you a link to pay via our website), this secures your slot in our schedule.

This £45 fee is deducted from the total cost of the repairs/servicing should you decide to proceed after receiving your personalised costs. (This fee does not apply to Health Checks & Light Seal Replacement)

If you decide not to proceed following the inspection, or if we deem the equipment is not repairable, the inspection fee is still payable, and is required before the return of your equipment.

Any additional work, parts or costs will be discussed with the customer prior to any additional work taking place.

Once work is completed, we will send an invoice via email for payment (any repair/servicing costs + return postage via RM Special Delivery). Payment is required before your equipment is returned to you - if payment is not received within 30 days we will retain or sell your equipment in lieu of payment.

Any repair turnaround times or completion dates provided are approximate only. SWCC accepts no responsibility for any loss or compensation arising from delays or the inability to meet stated dates. Delays in completion do not grant the customer the right to cancel the repair.

Postage and Delivery 

We dispatch all orders within 48 hours (usually sooner), Monday-Friday and ship to the UK only via Royal Mail (fully insured and tracked). 

We ship via Tracked 24 for items worth below £50. 

We ship via Special Delivery (next day) for items worth over £50 

Currently, we only ship within the United Kingdom (UK) mainland, however this will be continually reviewed. 

To reduce our carbon footprint and waste, we reuse packaging and cardboard boxes, however we always ensure all items are well packed. 

In the event an item(s) is lost/delayed when en route to you, we will have to investigate with Royal Mail/await further tracking updates before issuing a refund as parcels do frequently show up, this can take 2-4 weeks, but we will do everything possible to expedite this.  

In the event the item is deemed lost by Royal Mail, we will be happy to issue a refund or alternatively provide another camera of the same model/condition (if available). 

Liability 

SWCC is not liable to give any compensation other than a refund for item(s) purchased. 

SWCC shall bear no liability for any loss or damage of any nature arising from or in connection with repairs performed, nor for any injury, damage, or loss resulting from the use or operation of the camera or any associated equipment. Furthermore, no claims will be accepted for loss of, or damage to, any accessories or rolls of film remaining in the camera or provided with the camera at the time of service.
