Epson R-D1 6.1MP Digital Rangefinder Camera with Charger and batteries - *OUTLET*

£500.00

This camera model needs little introduction, it was the first digital rangefinder camera ever made (2004) - the Epson R-D1, boasting a whopping 6.1MP. This early digital sensor is sought after for its beautiful rendering, which is often compared to being close to Kodachrome colours.

An unlikely trio:

1) Made by Epson (yes, that’s right!)

2) Analogue dials made by Seiko (the watchmaker)

3) Made with an M mount (to use Leica lenses!)

Outlet Listing

This camera did not pass our initial testing as we do not work on Digital Cameras, but we do know this camera was inspected by a company in the USA (with a view to repair), and the previous owner chose not to accept their repair quote due the high repair costs (we do not know the extent of the repairs required).

The camera comes with its rubber grips included (in the small bag pictured), 7 batteries (including one inside the camera), and a charger.

The top plate works correctly - all dials work and move, and are intact - very rare! Many online have broken dials with no way of repairing them.

The camera turns on, shows menus on the screen etc.

The camera shutter does not release, and the camera cannot be advanced.

We don’t have means to test the battery capacities, but they will all be included along with the genuine Epson charger and lead.

Beyond this we have not done any further testing as we do not work on these cameras, however we must stress that based on the above, we are selling this as a donor body to be used for any remaining working parts only. The top plate alone with the working dials is worth buying this, as working R-D1 cameras with failed dials sell for over £1500.

The camera has been used thoroughly and exhibits wear throughout the camera as pictured including the screen.

The rangefinder also has debris etc inside and would require further cleaning/investigation.

To summarise, this camera has extensive wear and is sold without any form of warranty, and should be assumed irreparable.

Condition Grading:

  • ‘As-is’ (no warranty)

Items in this category have not been able to be fully checked due to an existing fault, e.g. seized shutter so will be considered non-operational. Known faults will be listed in the description of each item. These items will not come with a warranty.

  • ‘Fair - Items in this category will have heavier wear, such as dents, scratches, and larger areas of paint loss in places.

They also may have some imperfections to the optics.’
